How to choose a photoshoot location that matches your brand vibe.

“I don’t want to do the branding photoshoot in my home.”

I hear this a lot from my branding clients and I completely understand why you don’t want to do a photoshoot in your home. It could be because:

• The lighting is not ideal in your office.
• You share an office with your spouse.
• You have a small office.

Did you know there are plenty of location options if you don’t want to do the photoshoot in your home? You can choose from a coworking space, a rental home, your favorite outdoor space (e.g. a downtown street, park, lake), a coffee shop, and more!

Before you decide on a photoshoot location, ask yourself these questions:

1. Does this location match my brand and personality?
2. Does this location have the furniture that I need, such as a desk and chair, a couch, a kitchen, etc?
3. If it’s an outdoor location, will the season change affect how I will use the photos? Do I need a backup location or reschedule if the weather is bad?
4. What is my goal for this branding photo session and will this location elevate my photos and messaging?

Choosing a location for your branding photoshoot is easier once you have a clear goal.

When I work with my client who wants to do a shoot at a rental space, I would go to PeerSpace.com and search for the perfect location for them. PeerSpace has photography studios, homes, apartments, yoga studios, and more. It’s a great site to search for your next photoshoot location or an event space to host your next event.

Here are a few location ideas for your next photoshoot.

If you are a coach, a coworking space or a studio space would be ideal. We will capture photos of you working on your laptop, working on your next workshop, presenting,  working with a client, sharing your favorite self-help books, and of course, a headshot.

If you are in the health and wellness industry (such as a physical therapist, yoga instructor, or acupuncturist), the perfect location would be the place where you serve your clients. For example, a yoga studio or your office. We will capture photos of you working with a client, preparing for a yoga/physical therapy session, the tools you use, behind-the-scenes setup, and headshots.

If you are a creative (such as an artist, photographer, videographer, marketer, etc.), choose a location that fits your personality and your brand and showcases your work and products with some behind-the-scenes pictures. If you prefer an indoor photoshoot, a studio space is a great blank space for you to customize your branding photoshoot. If you love being outdoors, choose your favorite outdoor spot for your headshots and walking shots. If you have a favorite restaurant or cafe, this would be a great place for some lifestyle headshots like sipping your favorite drink and pictures of you collaborating with another entrepreneur. The possibilities are endless!
