For the longest time, I've heard of the QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning in Readington, New Jersey but never got a chance to visit. I finally decided to attend this year with my family so I purchased the tickets online for $30 each. Children under 3 is free.
Sunday morning (7/29), we woke up really early (3:30am) and left the house by 4:45am. It was about 1 hour and 15 minutes drive, so not too bad at all. When we got there, we paid the $10 parking fee (per car) and parked on the muddy field.
As we walked to the festival, I can see the hot air balloons are being inflated and we made it just in time for the launch at 6:30am. The weather was just perfect for the ascension and it was an amazing experience of watching a mass ascension of up to 100 hot air balloons, some even floated right over us. My favorite one is definitely the Elvis hot air balloon and they even played an Elvis's song as it ascended!
Of course, my husband had to take a cell phone picture of our daughter just slept through most of it.
After the mass ascension of the hot air balloons, we walked around the vendors area. There were lots of food vendors, retail vendors and more. Most of them gave out free samples of their products. QuickChek has a hospitality tent to cool down, dine, and relax. They even have free crafts for the children. A few more amenities that I thought it was nice that they had provided - cooling tents, baby changing tables, and lots of hand washing/sanitizing stations.
The tickets were valid for the entire day and even included lawn seating for the evening concert. They allowed re-entry if you do decided to go out and eat.
We will definitely visit again and maybe stay for the concert or even go on a hot air balloon ride. Visit their website for any updated news.
